Drafting 1
Drafting 1 consisted mostly of learning basic architecture. We learned a lot of new terms such as the different views of structures like isometric, diametric and plan oblique. We drew a variety of things, such as different buildings and objects found around the school as well as outside the school. We worked on improving our skills in identifying and making floor plans and elevations. We also learned about new pencil weights and how using a 4B can be drastically different than a 4H.
Drafting 2
In Drafting 2 we mainly focused on building a 3D model of a house. Initially we started by making the furniture for the house. Once we were done with that we slowly moved on creating the floor plans and then measuring everything and making sure it all fit. The building had two levels, both of which we were required to furnish. We created the elevations for the different sides of the house, cut them out and created our 3D model. We also had to create the land around the building, which included creating contours for the land. We were told to use our personal creativity during this process. .
Drafting 3
During Drafting 3 is based around using the design process through group projects. Our first project was to create a dry line along the San Sebastian River to protect against flooding in St. Augustine. We also designed a parking spot for Parking Day in Jacksonville. Another project we spent over a month on was revitalizing the Jacksonville Landing and to implement mixed use into our design. more information about this can be found on the Design tab.
Drafting 4
Drafting 4 is similar to Drafting 2 in a sense, except instead of learning AutoCAD, you learn Revit. We worked our way through a Revit book learning how to use the program. Later on during the second semester we used our knowledge of Revit from the first semester and designed a LEED certified school in Revit. Along with this project, we were also given the task of designing and constructing a full scale cardboard chair able to withstand 200 lbs.
